ArchVis RayTracing Sample

EN - ArchVis RayTracing Sample is a sample scene for the Unreal Engine 4.22 release.

The purpose was to showcase the new feature of 4.22 release: the realtime raytracing. It allows you to get proper reflections/shadows/translucency/global illumination and also to avoid lightmaps baking (and hours of compiling). The application allows to toggle Raytracing Reflections, Shadows and Translucency in realtime to see the exact changes.

I had the chance to work as a technical artist consultant in Epic Games, in collaboration with Fabrice Bourrelly. It was a really great experience because I could learn a lot of tools, process. Fabrice also taught me another approach to create materials, which is really important when you want to achieve a realistic look.

Images are extracted from this web page explaining differences with/without RayTracing in Unreal Engine 4.22. The scene was also used to illustrate the technology on the GDC 2019.
